The cottage is right on the border of the National Park and is
an ideal base for exploring Northumberland. Great for cycling (cycle
hire is availble in Rothbury), walking, bird watching and fishing
are right on the doorstep at Caistron Lake. Quad bikes and horse
riding are available within the area and horse riding is available
at Elsdon.
There is a Post Office in the village and Thropton is 3 miles to
the east, offering shop, petrol station and two pubs. Five miles
to the east lies Rothbury with a broad range of shops and facilities.
