Westfield
Cottage. This former water-bailiff's cottage lies at the heart of the owners'
farm in a stunning location in Upper Coquetdale. For many years the owners, Alastair
and Kate Hardie, ran a well-respected country pottery on the farm and the cottage
became their Crafts Council selected gallery. It has been transformed with
style and imagination and with great attention to detail and the use of natural
materials. The result is a wonderfully spacious holiday home, full of light and
colour. The cottage has superb views to the South towards the Simonside
Hills and to the East over the Rothbury Hills. Its more intimate views are over
the meandering Wreigh Burn which runs through the farm. The land alongside is
recognised as being an area of Special Scientific Interest and is home to a host
of birdlife as well as otters, badgers and foxes. There are trout in the burn
and a good run of salmon twice a year. Visitors are welcome to explore this area
themselves and fishermen may try their luck. Despite the farm's complete
seclusion, Rothbury, with all its amenities, is only three miles away and Thropton,
even closer, has a post office, garage and two pubs offering bar and restaurant
meals. The generous accomodation is all on one level and comprises:-
 a chestnut-floored
open plan living/dining room with a very well appointed kitchen
area. There is an inglenook fireplace with wood-burning stove (logs provided),
exposed beams and glorious views. Master double bedroom with stripped
old pine flooring and private cedar-clad shower/wc.There are French windows opening
onto the verandah and views over the burn. There is ample room for a cot. Twin-bedded
room with chestnut flooring and large windows overlooking the burn and Rothbury
Hills. Main bathroom with terracotta-tiled floor and seperate generous
shower cubicle.
